R.E.M. recorded an incredible five studio albums, one EP and an outtakes record, all while touring constantly from 1982 to '87. The sound was fresh and exciting, quirky and intricate. Anyone who was in college at the time, especially, might fondly recall time spent by the turntable, trying to decipher Michael Stipe's obtuse lyrics.

This Dad Rock episode is so important to co-hosts Patrick Foster and Jim Lenahan that they brought in a guest: fellow R.E.M. fanatic Justin Gay.
