Darkseid is one of the most intimidating fictional villains ever and one of the most powerful beings in DC comic books. On today's podcast, we discuss the history and powers of the character, as well as the most important stories and adaptations.

History

Created by writer/artist Jack Kirby as part of his Fourth World mythology
First appearance:  Cameo (voice chat) in Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen #134 (November 1970), full appearance in Forever People #1 (February 1971)
First was main villain of Jimmy Olsen, Forever People, Mister Miracle, and New Gods; now one of the biggest “bads” in DC Comics history
Has been often imitated (or purely copied) by other franchises
It is believed Kirby (a World War II veteran) modeled Darkseid after Adolf Hitler and Apokolips on Nazi Germany

His brother Drax attempts to get the power of the Omega Force; Uxas murdered him and claimed Omega Force (changing appearance and name)
