This November, Justice League finally hits theaters. 10 years ago, a different Justice League film was in development from director George Miller. We discuss the script of Justice League: Mortal, what we liked about it and what we didn't like about it.

Background:

Loose adaptation of JLA: Tower of Babel (Written by Mark Waid), which was also adapted into the  Justice League: Doom animated movie
Director: George Miller
Writers: Kieran and Michele Mulroney
The team: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter (established heroes, no team)
Other characters - Maxwell Lord, Talia al Ghul, OMAC

Basic Plot:

Black on Black Superman costume
We start the movie thinking Batman is dead, the whole movie is a flashback to 2 days ago
Batman has a “Brother Eye” satellite that watches superheroes because he doesn’t trust them
Maxwell Lord (with Talia al Ghul) hack the “Brother Eye” and use it to learn the weaknesses of all the Superheroes
He uses that info and nanobots to infect them all
Batman also runs into a robot/man (OMAC ALPHA) that beats him up
Flash is introduced to everyone else
Superman takes everyone to the Fortress of Solitude to try to figure out what’s going on.
Batman finds the Fortress and tells them it’s his fault (Brother Eye)
The team removes the nanobots from the Superheroes
Batman goes to confront Talia and Max Lord
We learn that Max Lord is actually the only survivor from a failed government program (OMAC)
He has turned a bunch of people in OMACs using Planet Krypton burgers
Superman and Wonder Woman show up to help Batman against Max and the OMACs
Max controls Superman’s mind, makes him try to kill Wonder Woman
The rest of the League show up to help fight all the OMACs and try to stop Superman
Batman breaks Max’s neck to stop his mind control
But he’s still alive in the OMACs, he takes over Flash as a OMAC ULTRA
Flash sacrifices himself to save everyone, destroy the OMAC/Max
Wally West becomes the Flash
So the funeral we saw at the beginning was Barry’s, not Batman’s
Ends setting up a fight with Starro the Conqueror (First villain to fight JL in comics)
