Host Olivia Rosenman speaks to Michael Jensen, one of the authors of the 2017 Digital News Report about gender and news. This year is the first time the report has examined how gender effects the way we engage with news, including where we consume news, what news we consume, and the reasons that we avoid news. Olivia and Michael discuss the findings in the report, including some surprising results about where men are most likely to consume news!

The Digital News Report: Australia 2017 is a collaboration between the News and Media Research Centre at the University of Canberra and the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at the University of Oxford. The survey is part of a wider project with 36 participating territories and 2017 is the third year Australia has participated. the report is available here:
