Fanya Lin makes her Pittsburgh debut for the Steinway Society of Western Pa Sunday in Kresge Theater at CMU 3pm April 3. Fanya Lin was born in Taipei Taiwan and studied in the US at Juilliard, Weber University and at the University of Minnesota. She worked with Lydia Artimiw and Jerome Lowenthal, was a top prize winner at the Hastings Piano Competition and recently performed with former Pittsburgh Symphony concertmaster Noah Bendix Balgley. She has suggestions for what you should see on Youtube with her Barber, Rachmaninov, Stravinsky, Chopin and Schumann performances. She teaches at the University of Arizona in Tucson. On her concert schedule is a date for a concert at the stadium in Kaosiung Taiwan which the Pittsburgh Symphony and Manfred Honeck opened in 2009. For Pittsburgh, she plays the Schumann Carnaval, Rachmaninoff Corelli Varations and she explains to Jim Cunningham that she met the composer of her opener the Nostalgia Waltz by Wim Statius Muller who was also a spy for NATO.
