Le fondateur de l’Armée du Salut, le pasteur méthodiste William Booth, avait fait de la lutte contre la pauvreté son combat. Depuis 1865, la bataille perdure et le moins que l’on puisse dire c’est que la guerre est loin d’être gagnée. Alors que la pandémie de Covid-19 a un peu plus plongé le monde dans les limbes de la précarité, mettant au banc de la société une frange de la population jusqu’alors préservée du recours à l’aide associative, le signal d’alarme est tiré. La dichotomie sociale de plus en plus prononcée risque de laisser des plaies profondes qu’il sera bien difficile de panser. Samuel Coppens, porte-parole de cette armée au grand cœur, nous dresse un bien triste constat de la situation. À l’attaque !
