2012 marquait avec Mohammed Merah la naissance d’une nouvelle forme de terrorisme où, tapi dans l’ombre, un « loup solitaire » passé sous les radars des services de renseignements sortait du bois pour frapper aveuglément, semant la mort au nom d’un extrémisme religieux. Depuis, de la tuerie de Charlie Hebdo, à la nuit apocalyptique parisienne de novembre 2015, du camion meurtrier de La Promenade des Anglais à Nice à la prise d’otages de l’hyper Cacher jusqu’à la récente horreur de la décapitation de l’enseignant Samuel Paty, ces atrocités, relayées en directe par les chaînes d’informations en continu, sont tragiquement venues endeuiller notre société en état de choc. C’est dans ces moments de tension extrême, face à des individus à la détermination sans limites, que les hommes du RAID et du GIGN entrent en scène. Respectivement anciens patrons de ces unités d’élite, Jean-Michel Fauvergue et Thierry Orosco lèvent, dans un livre confession, le voile sur ces deux véritables institutions dont ils ont été aux commandes, indispensables remparts face au terrorisme.
