Cette série japonaise n’est pas très connue car elle n’a été diffusée que deux fois à la télévision en France, dans Récré A2, en octobre 1985 puis en septembre 1987. Elle a aussi été éditée en DVD sous le nom Askadis la Légende de l'Empire Perdu. Finalement, son générique interprété par Jean-Jacques Cramier est aujourd’hui plus connu que la série en elle-même ! Et ce n’est pas étonnant car on retrouve à la composition de L'Empire des Cinq deux grands noms de la chanson française : Jacques Revaux et Jean-Pierre Bourtayre...
