Basé sur un manga créé par Tsukasa Hojo, Nicky Larson (City Hunter en VO) est une série produite par le studio Sunrise. Énorme succès au Japon, le dessin animé arrive en France en octobre 1990 sur TF1, dans le Club Dorothée et devient vite l'une de ses séries phare. Comme l’ensemble des génériques de l'émission, la chanson est composée par Gérard Salesses sur des paroles de Jean-François Porry. Au chant, Jean-Paul Cesari n’est alors pas connu du grand public, même s’il a déjà enregistré plusieurs génériques...
