L'équipe qui exploite le réseau de radiotélescopes MeerKAT en Afrique du Sud vient de publier une nouvelle étude portant sur le centre galactique. De nouvelles images de la zone entourant Sgr A* à 1.28 GHz avec une superbe résolution et une profondeur sans précédent montrent les émissions radio de la région qui produisent des formes complexes, et qui apportent une beauté quasi artistique... On y voit des milliers de filaments, certains formant des stries parallèles, des résidus de supernova, des pouponnières d'étoiles et autres structures étonnantes. L'étude est publiée dans The Astrophysical Journal.
