Grâce à une combinaison d'intelligence humaine et artificielle, des astronomes ont découvert 1701 nouvelles traînées d'astéroïdes dans les données d'archives du télescope spatial Hubble couvrant les 20 dernières années. Plus de 1000 traînées correspondent à des astéroïdes inconnus jusqu'alors, des astéroïdes peu lumineux et plus petits que ceux détectés dans les études au sol. Ils pourraient donner de précieux indices sur les conditions qui régnaient au début du système solaire, lorsque les planètes se sont formées. L’étude est parue dans Astronomy&Astrophysics.
