Une équipe de chercheurs chinois s'est intéressée au lien qui existerait entre les fusions de galaxies et l'activité de leur noyau. On pense généralement que les rapprochements de galaxies produisent un regain d'activité de leur noyaux, devenant temporairement des AGN (Noyaux Actifs de Galaxies) visibles en rayons X. Il semblerait que ce se soit loin d'être systématique... Ils publient leur étude dans The Astrophysical Journal.
