La crise pandémique a conduit de nombreux consommateurs à (re)découvrir les plaisirs du faire soi-même : cuisiner, réparer les objets, bricoler ou encore jardiner. Ces pratiques anciennes dites de « Do-It-Yourself » (DIY) sont à présent largement répandues dans la société. Si le DIY était à l’origine lié à une vision alternative de la consommation, il semble être devenu aujourd’hui une manne commerciale regroupant des motivations et des profils hétérogènes. La présente contribution analyse les motivations pour la pratique du DIY à partir d’une enquête menée en 2020 par l’ObsoCo et Citéo auprès de plus de 4000 consommateurs français. La distinction entre les pratiques révèle des profils sociodémographiques de pratiquants différenciés.
