There has usually been an abundance of singer-songwriters on the folk music scene. Many are quite talented but in this age of self-produced recordings many are less so. But there is not is an abundance of great instrumental recordings. It takes quite a bit of talent and compositional ability to construct a fine instrumental recording - the project must be a cohesive creation and not just a series of jams.
