Ghislain Bardout a toujours été avide de grands espaces (en particulier montagne et profondeur des océans). De formation scientifique, il se lance en 2006 dans la voie de l’exploration aux côtés de Jean-Louis Etienne, avec qui il travaillera pendant deux années. Grand passionné de plongée sous-marine, il monte une série d’expéditions sous-marine à partir de 2008 appelées Under The Pole. Pendant ensuite 10 ans, il va mener des missions d’exploration sous-marine, d’abord en Arctique, à vocation parfois scientifique, parfois documentaire, puis plus récemment, en Polynésie française. Il prépare en ce moment la prochaine expédition pour étudier la biodiversité sous-marine polaire en péninsule Antarctique. Avec bientôt quinze années de plongée sous-marine, souvent en famille avec sa femme Emmanuelle et ses deux garçons Robin (8 ans) et Tom (4 ans), Ghislain porte un regard très sensible à la menace du réchauffement climatique et à l’impact de l’homme sur la planète.
