The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is hosting a free concert in May!

Pittsburgh Symphony Paul Ross Fellows, Carlos Clark and Joshua Carr, talk with Jim Cunningham live about their upcoming free concert on May 29th. The concert titled "Spotlight on African American Composers" features Valerie Coleman, Adolphus Hailstork, Jesse Montgomery, and many more. Carlos and Joshua talk about their experience as a Fellow with the PSO, and how they continue Paul Ross' legacy of inclusion and excellence.

Carols also performs live "Bassoon Set" by Adolphus Hailstork in WQED-FM's studios. It is a sneak preview of the concert, as Joshua will perform Hailstork's "Variations for Trumpet" during the concert. They emphasize the universal human themes of the music in the program. They also share their own musical journeys from DePaul and San Francisco Conservatory.

You can hear Carlos and Joshua on Thursday, May 29th at 7 pm at the St. James AME Church in East Liberty.
