"Hair & Other Stories" is a dance-theater work by Urban Bush Women that reflects on race, identity, and ideas of beauty through the lens of Black women’s hair. Using movement, song, and conversation, it explores what constitutes freedom, liberation, and release in our everyday struggles to rise to our Extra-ordinary Selves in extraordinary times. WQED-FM's Jim Cunningham spoke to Urban Bush Women's Artistic Director Chanon Judson about "Hair & Other Stories," how the company hopes to help young women find power through dance, and her work in jazz at the University of Buffalo. "Hair & Other Stories" takes place at the PNC Theater September 9th and 10th.
