Conductor Christopher Franklin returns to Pittsburgh to conduct an opera for the first time in his home town. The opera he will lead on September 8th for Pittsburgh Festival Opera is "Adriana Lecouvreur" by Francesco Cilea.

Christopher highlights his career after completing high school in Pittsburgh before heading off to Macalester College to study German literature and the violin. After completing his Doctor of Musical Arts at the Peabody Institute, he has pursued a wide ranging career in Europe, and now serves as the Principal Conductor of Minnesota Opera.

Christopher also recalls his years in Pittsburgh and the work of his Mom and Dad, Joan and Dr. Don Franklin. His Father chaired the Department of Music at University of Pittsburgh leading the long running series Bach and the Baroque at the University, and writing scholarly articles on Bach with research in the former East Germany.
