It is that time of year again! It is time for Associated Artists of Pittsburgh's Annual Exhibition!
The 111th Annual Exhibition will kick off with a reception on February 28th, and go until December 14th, 2025 at the Erie Art Museum. Executive Director, Madeline Gent, and lens-based Pittsburgh artist Centa Schumacher, talk about the exhibition, and the incredible work audiences will see for the next year.
Madeline talks about the history of the Annual Exhibition, and why they are centering the event in Erie for the first time. Centa discusses her work, and what it means to be a lens-based artists. She hopes audiences will have a conversation when viewing her abstract photographs. Her concept for the two pieces in the exhibition centers on how both gravity is both a physical force in the universe, and a metaphor for life, in which people orbit around others and can change their trajectory in the world.
Centa also talks about her work with children at the Ellis School, and her Giant Eagle photo cake creations for Brew House Arts. Madeline invites people to visit the Erie Art Museum, and experience all 74 works by 60 different artists. She also talks about other upcoming events including a Featured Artist Exhibition in March.
