The Pittsburgh Historical Music Society presents an 18th Century Salon with music, song, and dance from France and England!

Soprano Sarah Richards talks about the upcoming performance in which she will sing some solos. The event aims to recreate a Baroque-era salon, complete with candles, period music, and dancing. Sarah shares the details about the Baroque French and English repertoire from composers such as Jean-Philippe Rameau, Andre Campra, and Henry and Daniel Purcell. She also highlights how Baroque singing is very similar to jazz improvisation, and allows for personal expression from the singer.

Sarah talks about her background in early music, her experience singing polyphony at the Pittsburgh Oratory, her work with director William Lockard, and her historical costume made by Jessica Young. There will be food and drink available for all, included in the ticket price.

Finally, Sarah shares her future concert at the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival, where she will sing "The Judgement of Paris".

You can hear the Pittsburgh Historical Music Society's "18th Century Salon" on Saturday, June 7th at 7 pm. The concert is at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
