Le souvenir lointain mais lancinant de ce héros ordinaire à l’humeur si peu altérée par son amputation conduisit l’auteur, à la fin du siècle dernier, à revisiter une mémoire « faite pour inventer le passé », donc trompeuse par essence. Surtout lorsqu’il s’agit de celle d’un pays entier...
