How That Song Became #1
What makes a song a smash? Talent? Luck? Timing? All that—and more. Chris Molanphy, pop-chart analyst and author of Slate’s “Why Is This Song No. 1?” series, tells tales from a half-century of chart history. Through storytelling, trivia and song snippets, Chris dissects how that song you love—or hate—dominated the airwaves, made its way to the top of the charts and shaped your memories forever.

A Kitchen Of Groove...
In 2006, Clafooti collective along with their partner Igeneration.fr for LES NUITS SONORES festival in Lyon, unveiled a series of 5 musical or video podcasts, describing essentiely their own activities. Featuring the members of the CLAFOOTI team, these series covered most of their music work and actions on the local scene. All dialogs are not localized in English (sorry, just french language) Today, CLAFOOTI anounces the release of a series of music-video podcasts with the most talented independent artists. Our goal with these music-video podcasts is to give the audience a chance to listen to an amazing cross section of music from electro to minimal and leftfield electronica from local DJ talents. In addition to these original recorded mixes, these podcasts will also feature real time video generated right from our studios. Each podcast will be different and unique! A new episode will be launched regularly through this year, so watch for the next episodes in few weeks time!

The only tejano podcast from Chicago, IL
Since 2013 Noches Pesadas is the only Tejano radio show podcast out of Chicago, IL. Having started in 2013 the founder (tv/radio and digital media veteran Carlos Mendez) thought if great bands like La Sombra, Grupo Oasis and more came from Chicago why is a show not produced here? He took his money and began the show on local radio station WCEV 1450AM. Months later the show moved to WRLL Radio Formula 1450AM where it stayed until January 2016. Carlos hosted, sold to sponsors and produced the show. During this time he also began distributing the program as a podcast and through the tune in app. Til this day it is still broadcast through both of those digital mediums where it averages tons of downloads from places all over the United States. If you want the show broadcast at your local station please call them and demand it. Friday evenings,9-11pm on Radio Caroline Flashback
County Down born Derek Taylor had his first taste of broadcasting on BFBS in Aden in 1966, where his father was serving in the British Army, hosting the weekly Get With It Club! Back in England he worked as a night club DJ before entering drama college and then university. Graduating in 1979, he joined the BBC World Service, working on The Weekly Echo. From there his broadcasting career took him to BBC Radio Suffolk, where he presented a weekly arts show. But he fell out badly with the programme organiser over the anti-war song "Gallipoli". Apparently the song was too long and therefore too costly for the BBC to play. He was told he would never work for the BBC again, and hasn't. Derek next joined a group applying for a local radio license in Folkestone/Dover Kent, producing and presenting the news and the drive-time show. From there he moved to Thanet Radio and presented a country music show. In 1992 Derek discovered the British Archive of Country Music where he has worked ever since as an Archivist. The Archive has nearly a million country music recordings scanning the whole history of country music and its roots. It's this collection that forms the basis for his Archive Roots Americana Show on Radio Caroline. Derek Taylor has also written ten western novels, all still in print. He can't think why, other than the fact that he loves cowboy music!

Someone else had to learn to live with hardship and found their true identity along the way, all while living in two worlds. rockunderfire.com
Rock Under Fire is a rock and roll podcast dissecting and discussing seven decades of rock in all its beautiful, wondrous, and despicable glory. Once upon a time, rock and roll music was the center of pop culture. Is rock really dead as some suggest? Or is it in a period of stagnancy existing on the fringe? What is its place in the 21st Century? These questions are the constant underlying theme to a different rock-related subject for each bi-weekly episode. Join hosts Mike Derrico, Patrick Ivanitski, and Stick Nixon for this unique ongoing dialogue through rock's past, present, and future.

One hundred simple fish sauces. Sixty-five ways to cook mackerel. The Catching of Unshelled Fish. Twenty-seven ways to Cook Frogslegs. Now that should certainly make you reach for your apron and fish knife! How to Cook Fish by Olive Green is a vintage culinary classic, filled with simple, easy to follow recipes rendered in a terse, no nonsense style. There's none of this fiddling with scales, weights and measures. What you get is a mélange of interesting, unusual ways to cook seafood without worrying about lists of ingredients, timings, temperature or any of the conventions followed by traditional cookbooks. If you've read that old Victorian favorite, Lavender and Old Lace (which was later adapted very successfully as Arsenic and Old Lace) by Myrtle Reed, you'd certainly be interested to know that the author had an equally successful career as a writer of popular cook books. Writing under the pseudonym Olive Green, Reed published six very successful books on cooking. However, from 1898 to her suicide in 1911, she continuously published at least one novel every year. The books are romantic and highly emotional in nature, full of unrequited passion, revenge, mystery and supernatural happenings. She also wrote a collection of stories about important women who made a difference to society. In between, she wrote pamphlets, married her Canadian pen-pal, suffered severe and debilitating bouts of insomnia and engaged in charity work. Her cookbooks are characterized by interesting tips on home making and the art of cooking, peppered with literary nuggets and quotations, witty remarks and anecdotes, all of which make How to Cook Fish not just an excellent recipe book but also an interesting and entertaining read. She also provides lists of what fish are in season during particular times of year, thus ensuring that the cook uses only the freshest of ingredients. How to Cook Fish is divided into 45 chapters. The One Hundred Fish Sauces are arranged in alphabetical order, starting with “Admiral Sauce” and ending with “White Sauce.” In between you have recipes for “Brown Tomato Sauce” “Sicilian Sauce” and other such unusual concoctions. Under the chapter One Hundred Miscellaneous Recipes you have items such as Fish a la Brunswick, Chartreuse of Fish, Jellied Fish Salad and many other great variations. This is indeed a great addition to your kitchen library and the clear, simple way in which the recipes are presented would tempt even the least adventurous of cooks to try a hand at one of these delicious sounding creations.
