Depuis 15 ans, en s'appuyant sur une incommensurable connaissance de l'Histoire du Cinéma et une solide mauvaise foi, Le Cinéma est mort traite et parfois maltraite l'actualité cinématographique pour débusquer les propositions de Cinéma vraiment originales ou simplement solides partout où elles se trouvent et plus difficilement parmi les emballements de la critique parisienne. Puisqu'elle a eu l'impression d'en trouver de moins en moins ces dernières années, elle a désormais eut tendance à consacrer son temps d'antenne aux films et cinéastes qu'elle aime malgré leur âge, en s'appuyant plutôt sur l'actualité éditoriale vidéo de patrimoine. Patrick Boucheron est né en 1965, à Paris. Après des études secondaires au lycée Marcelin Berthelot (Saint-Maur-des-Fossés) puis au lycée Henri IV (Paris), il entre à l'École normale supérieure de Saint-Cloud en 1985 et obtient l'agrégation d'histoire en 1988. C'est sous la direction de Pierre Toubert qu'il soutient en 1994 à l'université de Paris 1 sa thèse de doctorat d'histoire médiévale, publiée quatre ans plus tard sous le titre Le pouvoir de bâtir. Urbanisme et politique édilitaire à Milan (XIVe-XVe siècles), Rome, École française de Rome, 1998 (Collection de l'EFR, 239). Maître de conférences en histoire médiévale à l'École normale supérieure de Fontenay-Saint-Cloud de 1994 à 1999, puis à l'université de Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne à partir de 1999, il fut membre junior de l'Institut universitaire de France de 2004 à 2009. En 2009, il soutient à l'université de Paris 1 une habilitation à diriger des recherches intitulée La trace et l'aura et est élu professeur d'histoire du Moyen Âge dans cette même université en 2012. Il est, depuis 2015, président du conseil scientifique de l'École française de Rome. Il a été élu la même année professeur au Collège de France sur la chaire « Histoire des pouvoirs en Europe occidentale, XIIIe-XVIe siècle ».
