L’éducation sert à promouvoir l’égalité des chances, à orienter les élèves en fonction de leurs capacités et intérêts, à développer les compétences nécessaires pour trouver un travail et favoriser une participation citoyenne active. Mais l'éducation est aussi un système subi : notre citoyenneté est sanctionnée par l'Etat, nos relations et valeurs par nos parents, nos études par un diplôme. Plus que jamais, les jeunes veulent agir pour une société soutenable et juste. Pourtant, les décisions qui affectent leur avenir sont souvent prises en leurs noms sans qu'ils aient leur mot à dire. En mettant l’accent sur la performance individuelle plutôt que sur l'intelligence collective, nous formons des élèves certes évalués, mais pas toujours outillés pour transformer positivement le monde. Saturation mentale, crise de l’attention, inadéquation des programmes avec les besoins actuels : le coût humain, psychologique, environnemental de nos apprentissages peuvent aussi se faire ressentir.
